Road Construction

Street paving maintenance

Approximately 21 miles of road at various locations throughout the city will be resurfaced this year based on existing pavement conditions. Slurry seal is a protective coating applied to the surface of the street to help slow wear and tear by sealing small cracks, creating a smoother surface and protecting the pavement underneath. San Marcos Boulevard traffic flow improvements

The City of San Marcos has completed the first phase of traffic flow and safety improvements along San Marcos Boulevard between Knights Realm and Rancho Santa Fe Road by San Marcos High School. The project was completed on schedule before the start of the new school year, minimizing impacts for students, families and commuters.

Traffic signal safety upgrades

The City of San Marcos is updating traffic signals citywide with new retroreflective backplates — bright yellow borders around signal lights — to improve visibility and safety for drivers, especially at night and during power outages.

Minor traffic impacts are expected at each location while work is completed.
