The City of San Marcos advocates and advances its legislative agenda by pursuing and protecting the best interest of the City through legislative advocacy and partnerships at the regional, state and federal level.

Based on policy outlined by the San Marcos Legislative Platform Procedures, positions adopted by the San Marcos City Council and those approved in the annual Legislative Platform(PDF, 1MB)  each year, city staff advocate for legislation that will safeguard community interests and local legislative authority.

Contacting your elected officials and asking for their support or opposition is critical to the city’s advocacy efforts at the regional, state and federal levels to safeguard community interests and local autonomy.
