San Marcos offers hands-on bike and e-bike safety class for residents
Published on February 11, 2026
The City of San Marcos will host a hands-on bike and e-bike safety training from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 7, at the San Marcos Community Center, 3 Civic Center Drive. The class is for residents seeking additional safety instruction and riding tips.
The e-bike safety cycling class includes three components: classroom instruction, parking lot drills and street riding. Participants will practice essential riding skills with guidance from a certified cycling instructor.
The complimentary class is open to riders ages 12 and older using bikes or e-bikes. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend with their children so families can learn current safety rules and riding skills together. Helmets are required. Class size is limited to 25 participants. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or designated guardian. To learn more and RSVP, visit sanmarcosca.gov/e-bikes.
E-bike safety remains a top priority for the City of San Marcos. As the first city along the Highway 78 corridor to ban e-bike riders under age 12, San Marcos continues to promote safe riding and local traffic laws through its Ride Right traffic safety campaign.
