With schools closed for Thanksgiving break next week, the City of San Marcos is encouraging everyone to stay alert on roads, near parks, and in neighborhoods as more families, students, and visitors are out and about throughout the week.

Drivers may see increased foot traffic near popular gathering spots and community areas during daytime and evening hours. Be sure to take a few extra precautions to help keep our community safe.

Safety Tips for Drivers:

  • Slow down in neighborhoods, and around crosswalks
  • Watch for children, teens, and families crossing streets
  • Avoid distractions and keep phones put away
  • Use headlights when visibility is low

For Pedestrians, Cyclists, and E-Bike Riders:

  • Wear bright or reflective clothing
  • Use front and rear lights on bicycles and e-bikes
  • Follow traffic rules and ride predictably
  • Use sidewalks and crosswalks when available
  • Stay alert and watch for turning vehicles

The City encourages everyone to plan ahead, stay aware, and enjoy a safe Thanksgiving break in San Marcos.
