The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to carry out its policies and oversee the day-to-day operations of the city.
This includes hiring and leading city staff, ensuring the efficient delivery of city services, managing the city’s budget, and making it easy for community members to access information about their local government. Learn about the council–manager form of government.
Meet your City Manager
When I joined the City of San Marcos in 2009 from the private sector, I discovered a unique work culture that blends a passion for public service with the entrepreneurial spirit and efficiency of a well-run business.
Over the next 15 years, I worked closely with every city department as HR Director, then as Assistant City Manager, gaining a deep appreciation for the role local government can play in making our community stronger, safer and more connected:
- Keeping our community safe and responding quickly to 9-1-1 calls for help
- Providing beautiful parks and trails
- Ensuring our infrastructure is well maintained
- Creating programs and events that bring our community together
- Supporting local businesses and a healthy economy
- And so much more!
