Organics Recycling
Recycling organic waste is now easier than ever. EDCO offers organic waste pick-up on your regularly scheduled trash day. Simply place the following in your green cart:
- Food scraps
- Landscaping and pruning debris
- Non-hazardous wood cuttings
- Food-soiled paper waste
Request a Kitchen Caddie for convenient transfer of food scraps from the kitchen to the organics cart or compost pile.
If it grows, it goes!
Food scraps: Fruit, vegetables, meat, bones, dairy, eggshells, prepared food
Food-soiled paper: Napkins, tea bags, paper plates, coffee filters
Yard waste: Plants, leaves, branches, grass
Natural fibers: Popsicle sticks, sawdust, toothpicks, wooden chopsticks, untreated wood
Prohibited items
The following items cannot break down or may pose a safety hazard for collection crews:
- Aluminum
- Animal carcasses
- Cigarette butts and ashes
- Clothing
- Diapers
- Dirt
- Glass
- Hazardous waste
- Kitty litter
- Landscape timbers
- Liquids
- Medical waste
- Metal
- Pet waste
- Plastic bags or film
- Plastic containers
- Plastic straws
- Rocks
- Soil
- Styrofoam
- Trash
- Treated or painted lumber
- Tree stumps
- Wine corks
No, please do not use any kind of plastic bags for any type of green waste, food waste or other organics, as they contaminate the equipment. All organic material must be placed loosely inside the organics cart for collection. Paper bags are acceptable.
