Welcome to Rec Club!

The City of San Marcos offers an after-school program for San Marcos Unified School District families. Children enjoy a safe, supervised environment with trained staff, daily snacks, games and activities, and dedicated homework time.

Transportation is available through SMUSD bus service to the San Marcos Community Center or San Elijo Recreation Center (bus pass required and purchased separately). Families may also drop off directly at the program site.

Judith Herrera Alcaraz at the Community Center 

Judith Herrera Alcaraz

Judith Herrera Alcaraz is a full-time Site Lead with the City of San Marcos and has dedicated 12 years of service to Youth Programs. She oversees operations in the Community Center classrooms and plays a key role in the successful delivery of a wide range of programs, including preschool, summer camp, Rec Club, and school field trips. 

Judith wears many hats and brings a calm, welcoming presence to everything she does. She works closely with staff, children, and families to ensure everyone feels comfortable, supported, and included. In addition to managing daily operations, Judith plans curriculum for early learners and ensures each program has the tools and resources needed to thrive. With Judith leading the way, families can feel confident knowing their children are safe, supported, and in caring hands.

San Elijo Recreation Center

Leslie Reed at the San Elijo Recreation Center

Leslie Reed

Leslie Reed is a full-time Site Lead with the City of San Marcos and has proudly served the community for over 20 years in Youth Programs. She oversees operations at the San Elijo Recreation Center, located near San Elijo Park, leading preschool programs, summer camp, and Rec Club with dedication and care.

Leslie is deeply passionate about creating safe, welcoming, and engaging environments for children and families. Her commitment is evident in the quality of her work and the strong relationships she builds with participants. Leslie takes the time to get to know each child and family personally, ensuring everyone feels supported and has the best possible experience in every program she leads. Under Leslie's watch, families can feel confident knowing they're in very good hands.

Program Details

Ages: Full-day TK and elementary students(half-day TK not eligible)
Hours: Monday–Friday, school dismissal–6:00 p.m.
Cost: $400/month(bus pass sold separately)
Includes: Supervised care, snacks, games, and homework assistance

Bus passes

Bus passes must be purchased through SMUSD Transportation Services. Approval times may vary, and students may not ride until their pass is approved.
