Fireworks are illegal
All fireworks, including sparklers and “safe and sane” types, are banned in San Marcos. Possession or use can lead to fines or arrest. Fireworks can also spark wildfires and cause serious injuries. To report illegal fireworks in San Marcos, you should call 911 if it is an emergency threatening life or property, or 858-868-3200 for non-emergency reports. If there is an immediate threat, call 911.
Red, White and BOOM! Celebration on July 4
The City of San Marcos invites residents to celebrate Independence Day at the annual Red, White and BOOM! event on Saturday, July 4 at Bradley Park (1587 Linda Vista Drive).
Festivities begin at 5 p.m. and include live music, carnival games, jumpers and food sales. The evening will conclude with a professional fireworks display at 9 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the event. Parking is limited, so carpooling is highly recommended.
Bradley Bike Park temporarily closed
Bradley Bike Park will be temporarily closed from Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5 at 4 p.m. to accommodate setup and safety preparations for the celebration. The bike park is expected to reopen to the public at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 5.
