Mapping

The Subdivision Map Act of the State of California governs the subdivision of land for the purpose of sale, leasing, or financing. Under this law and the city’s Subdivision Ordinance, the city ensures that public objectives are met during the subdivision process.

Tentative maps

The City’s Planning Division is responsible for processing and administering tentative map applications and approvals.

Subdivision maps

  • Final maps and parcel maps are administered by the Land Development Engineering Division. Applications for final and parcel maps and information on mapping requirements and standards can be found in the Knowledge Center.
  • Final maps are required for major subdivisions that create five or more lots or condominium units.
  • Parcel maps are required for minor subdivisions that create four or fewer  parcels or condominium units.

City’s survey control network

The basis of elevations for all construction plans and mapping documents shall use North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88). All construction plans and mapping documents shall use the City’s  current survey network.

Land Development Engineering administers applications for the following:

  • Certificates of correction
  • Easements
  • Lot line adjustments 
  • Reversions to acreage
  • Street vacations and quitclaims
  • Urban lot splits
